Near iPod death

Who said iPod's weren't dangerous? I was almost knocked off my bike this morning cause I was blissfully unaware of the oncoming traffic. Surely, with my iPod shuffle blaring away, I can fend off speeding cars with my bare hands?

New Super Computer

Well, after several months of review/planning/contract negotiations, we (APAC) have purchased a new super computer. The machine is an SGI Altix 3700 Bx2 system with 1680 cpu's in total (3 x 512cpu systems, 1 x 128cpu system and 1 x 16 cpu system). The press release is here. Its quite good reading.

I'll post photos as it is installed etc.

Work Christmas Party

Christmas is always so hectic that we have our work christmas party in Feb

8th Hole

This is the 8th hole on the Port Arthur golf course (par 3). We all made par, great end to a round of gold. Its a bugger of a water hazard

Have you seen this IOU?

My boss is frugal. That's all there is to be said about it. One friday evening at beer O'clock, he didn't have the money for a beer, so he left me an IOU ($2). Upon hearing this, a co-worker payed $2.50 for it. Its now negotiable tender in our office.

Would you buy anything from this guy?

A wig, some dodgy glasses and a plastic gun can give some good photos.

Now I'm naffed

Bugger. After spilling a drink of green cordial into the keyboard of my PowerBook (just 6 months old) I am left to marvel Apple's design. Its great that the keyboard is effectively sealed from the rest of the keyboard. So my drink didn't make it to the electronics. That's good.

BUT, how do you clean it? I pulled the machine apart (there are a LOT of small screws) with the hope of pulling the keyboard off and cleaning it. But its sealed... so I have to put up with a few sticky keys. Everything in the lower left quadrant is somewhat slow to respond. Oh well.
